Martha's and Ralph's current activities

Once again spent the Christmas holidays on the "high seas", this time went back to the Panama Canal. Which included Half Moon Cay, Willemstad Curacao, Oranjestad Aruba, Panama Canal, Colon Panama, Puerto Limon (San Jose) Costa Rica and Ft Lauderdale. Once again Holland America exceeded our expectations. Snaps posted below 2017 snaps Panama Canal / Caribbean.

Had another great holiday cruise on Holland America, this time the eastern Caribbean visiting Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. Great weather and another enjoyable cruise. This year travel went very smooth, weather in Roswell was great until the following Friday when we got 2.5 inches of snow and -10 degree weather. Snaps are posted below "2016 eastern Caribbean Cruise".

Over Christmas 2015 we took a cruise in the western Caribbean visiting Half Moon Clay in the Bahamas, Falmouth in Jamaica, Georgetown in Cayman Island and Cozumel Mexico. Starting and ending in Fort Lauderdale on Holland America. When returning to Roswell, flights were canceled  into Roswell having us speed 3 extra days at the Dallas Fort Worth airport. When we finally got back home we had over 20 inches of snow, in what the media was call the "Goliath Storm". Since moving here 17 years ago we haven't had a total of 20 inches of snow in a community that doesn't own a snow plow. Had to have a tractor clear away over 4 feet of snow drift on the driveway. but we had a GREAT time in the Caribbean. Snaps are posted below "2015 Western Caribbean Cruise".

In August 2014 we've taken a Holland America cruise from Montreal Canada to Boston, Ma., making stops at Quebec in the province of Quebec, Charlottetown in the province of Prince Edward Island, Sydney in the province of Nova Scotia, and Halifax in the province of Nova Scotia, all in Canada. We then sailed into Bar Harbor, Me., before ending up in Boston, Ma. Another great cruise and have posted lots of snaps listed below in the "2014 Snaps".

In the late summer of 2013 we took another Cruise / Land Tour with Holland America, similar to the trip we took in 2010. We have started flying into our cruise city's a day early so we can spend some time site seeing prior to starting our cruise. This time we had a unexpected 1:30 am false alarm fire at our hotel, so we walked up and down 10 flights of stairs in the middle of the night.  Martha and I have uploaded to SkyDrive pictures and several videos of our 3rd trip to Alaska. They start out with a couple of great shots of Mt. Mckinley, and then Anchorage to Denali, to Fairbanks, to TOK, to Beaver Creek in the Yukon, to Whitehorse, to Carcross all in the Yukon and a narrow gage train ride into Skagway. Then dog sledding, onboard the ship into Glacier Bay  National Park, with a discover moment video of an ice berg calving. Then onto Ketchikan for flying in a float plane and down to Vancouver.

Over Christmas 2011 we took a cruise from San Diego down to Mexico, snaps are also posted in SkyDrive.

In the summer of 2010 took a fantastic Cruise / Land Tour of Alaska with Holland American (1500 miles on land, via train, bus and airplane). Flew to Anchorage, then traveled by dome train car to Denali National Park, checked into the hotel, then took the 4 hour Stampede trail ATV ride into the bush. Earlier the next morning spend the entire day in Denali National park, had cloudless view of Mt. McKinley, along with all the other breathtaking views.  Later in the afternoon back on the train dome cars and onto Fairbanks where we panned for gold the next day.  We then stopped at the Trans Alaska Pipeline, Santa Clause land and onto TOK. Then bused over to Beaver Creek, where we took flight on Yukon Air in a converted W.W.II cargo plane to Dawson City, due to the Dempster highway being closed. Then continued on bus through the Yukon onto Whitehorse, then took a, narrow gage train ride into Skagway. Prior to getting on the ship at Skagway we took a canoe ride to the Davidson Glacier. We then finally made it onto the ship were we could rest up while a touring through Glacier Bay National Park, then down to Vancouver for our plane ride back home. This was our second trip to Alaska, and the Cruise /Land Tour is the biggest bang for the dollar and enjoyment.

Our 3rd grandchild was born in 2013 Charles James, and 2nd granddaughter Danica Jane, was born to Casey and Brian Brown on 8/11/10, while we were in the Yukon with no cell service, notification picture arrived via email.

We went on a Panama canal transit cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angles fall of 2008, it was just like being on the Discovery channel only in person. One of the top ten things we've ever done.

Alaska inside passage cruise in late summer 2007, completely different then the cruise / land tour we took in 2010 & 2013, but had great time on this one too.

Ralph was the Roswell Elks Lodge #969 Charity Golf Chairperson, 2009 - 2017, and held eighteen charity tournaments: Elks for Vets in June, and Elks Supporting New Mexico Wounded Warrior's in September. Over $500,000 has been donated by the local community supporting these charity events. All of the funds raised supported local charities ($250,000 SENM Veteran Transportation, $190,000 Roswell Elks NM WW, $65,000 Chaves County Cancer Fund).

Ralph & Martha attended a speech by President G.W. Bush in Roswell, NM on 1/22/04. Ralph was able to shake President G.W. Bush's hand after his speech! (We lived in Chicagoland for over 50 years and never with-in 30 miles of a President. We moved to Roswell, NM &  6 years later were standing within 30 feet of our President & Commander and Chief. What a THRILL!)

Martha's busy with quilting, and I do mean big time winning lots of 1st places for her quilts. Also staying busy with community and church activities, and spends lots of time taking care of RJB.

Ralph has had 8 "hole-in-one's" all in Roswell New Mexico, five at Spring River GC on: 5/22/02, 4/15/05, 6/27/12, 10/15/12 & 4/10/13. At the New Mexico Military Institute GC on: 4/7/94, 3/11/00 & 1/20/12.

Ralph won the senior club championship at Spring River GC in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 & 2013, which happens to be the 1st golf course that he ever played with his dad (Charles L. Brown) back in the early 80's. Ralph has been President of the Spring River Men's Senior Golf association for over 15 years.

Ralph was Chairperson of the Roswell Community Improvement Commission for 8 years, and has been Chairperson of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the city of Roswell, NM for 7.
